Dream Jobs

Money or passion? Everyone works for one of these two reason. A job opportunity that is both fun and comes with ans attractive pay is scarce but there are a lucky few who somehow managed to land a job that combines two.

Paradise Island Caretaker
Relax on a tropical island away from the bustling city. Well, as a paradise island caretaker, it is a job to swim, explore, relax and take in the blue skies, crystal clear waters and pure sands.

It is easy to see why many regard this as the best job in the world. All a paradise island caretaker has to do is have a grand time exploring the island and promoting activities via a blog, photo diary and video updates for the world to see.

Take an entry on Ben Southall's blog (http://www.bestjobben.com). He is paradise island caretaker of Hamilton Island of the Great Barrier Reef in Australia. During his 6 months contract, he lived in a rent-free airy three bedroom oceanfront villa complete with a private pool and sweeping views of the surrounding islands. All Ben had to do was protect the reef and discover the island's full potential and promote it.

Prior to landing the job, Ben had to spend 4 days on the island for and extended interview process. He had to snorkel through crystalline waters, gorge at a beach side barbecue, relax at a spa, demonstrate his blogging abilities, take swimming test and sit through in-person interview.

Video Game Tester
This is pretty much the best job every guy would want. Sitting around channelling the kid in them to play video games all day long.

As a video game tester, you are required to play video games for at least 4 hours per day and even more before they hit the markets!

Crucial to the development of new video games, the testers have to play the games over and over again to ensure quality, find mistakes, bugs and other problems that could hinder gamers from having a good time.

Though it sounds like fun, video game tester need a lot of patience when testing a game as they have to constantly find new ways to beat the high score. Great controller skills and hand-eye coordination also help tremendously.

Food Taster
Be warned, this job might sound really easy but dangerous if not careful. The duty of a food taster comes with a great risk - gaining weight!

What a joy it is to be paid to eat all you want all day long and even take food home with you. There are different types of food tasters sampling all kinds of  food from chocolates, candies, ice-creams, cereals and breakfast bars to meats for fast food joints.

The responsibilities for a food taster are to test top secret recipes, come up with ideas for new products, develop recipes and make sure that existing products stay ahead of the competition.  When you have to taste a lot of pretty much the same thing, it is wise to decide on a type of food you prefer before you go jumping into the job.

Food tasters are not just concerned with checking the flavours but also the texture and appearance of the food. To achieve food taster status, you have to learn and know a lot about the taste, texture and flavour of different kinds of food. The best would be to hone the skills at a culinary school.

Constant trips to the gym are definitely necessary for this job!

Luxury Bed Tester
This is the dream. Getting paid to sleep on the job and on luxury bed, no less!!

While sleeping on the job is highly frowned upon, it is imperative when you are a luxury bed tester.

Through this job is usually a short stint that pays good money, it ultimately serves a higher purpose. Bed companies usually run these tests as a means to carry out a sleep survey which provides an objective view of bed sales and looks into what brings about a good night's sleep.

The bed tester will also be put through a series of experiment under certain conditions such as giving the tester alcohol or caffeine and changing the light and temperature to measure the extent that external factors influence sleeping experience on the beds.

Famous for landing the job, Roisin Madigan earned £1000 for sleeping on top-of-the-line designer beds and mattresses every day for a month. She spent 8 hours per day at a luxury bed specialists Simon Horn Limited's showroom in Edgbaston and blogged about her experience.

So call it luck or just knowing when and where to look, those jobs are said to be the BEST in the world!! Agree?
