Weird Ways to Beat Cold .....

Well these natural remedies might just do the trick for you. Dare to try?

Listen to more jazz

Naturopathic doctor Jean-Jacques Dugoua of healthy living website Newtopia.com believes that listening to jazz for 30 minutes at a time increases immunoglobulin A - our natural defence against viruses and infections. This may benefit cold sufferers, with its effects lasting around 30 minutes after the music has stopped.

Wear wet socks

Leslie Solomonian, assistant professor from the College of Naturopathic Medicine in Toronto, says wearing cold, wet socks covered with warm ones can mimic the effects of immune-enhancing hydrotherapy treatments. She says it stimulates circulation and relieves head congestion.

Eat more chocolate

Chocolate contains theobromine, which Dugoua says helps suppress the nerve activity responsible for coughing. He believes it's three times more effective in reducing persistent coughing when compared to codeine. Experts say this only applies to dark chocolate, as sugar is thought to weaken immunity.

Virus-fighting oysters

Oysters are high in immunity-boosting zinc, which makes them ideal for fighting colds. Zinc is thought to play a role in fighting viruses and bacteria.

Chew onions

Solomonian says onions have antimicrobial properties, which make them great for cold and flu sufferers. And their high sulfur content is helpful for both immune responsiveness and detoxification.
